1845 Locomotive driver on the Paris to Rouen line
Employed by Sir John MacNeill, the consulting engineer for the Dublin and Belfast Railway
1849 Returned to England and lived at Liverpool
1852 Sailed for Australia, on board the “Delta” which arrived in Melbourne on 19 October 1852.
1855 Driver on the Sydney-Parramatta railway
Remained with the New South Wales railways for over 30 years until his retirement in 1885 at the age of 70.
1893 Died at his home at Cleveland Street, Redfern, Sydney.
