1850 Married Jane T. Lewis and had two sons and a daughter

1865 Patent. William Sparks Thomson, of Paris, for improvements in covered steel, for crinoline skirts, and in the machinery for covering and uniting the same.[1]

1870 Joins IMechE. William Sparks Thomson, Railway Buffer and Spring Manufacturer, 154 West Regent Street, Glasgow.[2]
