1842 Advert: 'Important Sale of New Lathes, Mill Geering, Steam Piping. Steam Engine and Boiler, large Crane, Cupolas, finished and unfinished Machinery, Horses, Carts, &c. By Mr. Ousey, on Wednesday and Thursday, the 20th and 21 st days of April, 1842, at the Machine Shop and Foundry of Messrs. Oddy and Co., situate at Newton Moor, in the parish of Mottram-in-Longdendale, in the county of Chester:
The Whole of their Extensive and Valuable STOCK IN TRADE, consisting of 14-inch double-geered lathe, with slide rest attached by Coates; 8-inch back geered ditto, by do. ; single ditto ; 7-inch ditto; slide rest; patent chuck, by Stevens ; 18-inch plate; upright drill and bits, by Coates ; a quantity of bits, drills, mandrills, and guages, quite new ; 60 yards 4-inch steam piping, turned and faced ; grindstone in iron frame, large patent scales and weights; bellows, anvils, smithy tools; many tons of new and old cast and wrought iron ; 28 yards lathe bearers, seven inches by sixteen ditto, with iron supporters; drums, straps and shafting; a large quantity of new files; 18-inch patent lapping machines, by Cheetham ; circular saw ; joiners' benches; patterns; timber, &c. ; one large crane and crab with blocks and chains complete ; two cupolas ; a large quantity moulding boxes and patterns ; stove carriage and stand ; fan and piping ; rope and blocks; spades, riddles, wheelbarrows, hand cart, &c. ; one 8 horse power high pressure STEAM ENGINE, with 14-horsepower BOILER; also two capital chestnut HORSES, broad and narrow wheeled carts, hay, straw, dung, &c.
