1904 Irish Automobile Club Speed Trials[1]

The speed trials under tho auspices of the Irish Automobile Club were brought to a successful conclusion today over the measured mile at Portmarnock. Tho weather was fine and the course in excellent order. The attendance was again very large. The following are the details of to-day's racing:—

Class C (Amateurs).— For motor-bicycles up to and including 150lb.

First heat.— C. B. Franklin (Dublin), 2.75 h.p. F.N. 1: J. G. Drury (Dublin), 2.5 h.p. Triumph, 2. Won by 50 yards. Time, lmin. 30 3-5wc.

Second heat.— E. T. Jones (Wales), 2.5 h.p. Humber, 1; F. A. Wallen (Dublin), 3 h.p. Triumph, 2. Won easily. Time, lmin. 45 l-5sec.

Final heat,— C. B. Franklin, 1; E. T. Jones, 2. Won by 50 yards. Time, lm'.n. 32 l-5sec.

Class E.— For two-seated touring cars costing £200 or under.

Goff challenge cup, value 20 guineas, to be won twice in succession or three times in all, confined to members of the Irish Automobile CJub.
