1909 Track records at Brooklands.[1]

The following track records made this year at Brooklands have been recognised by the Auto-Cycle Union:

Class A (maximum cubical capacity 275 C.C.) —

  • Mr G. L. Fletcher's twin-cylinder Moto-Reve (bore 50mm,, stroke 70mm., cubical capacity 274», 45.990 miles per hour for the kilometre, and 45.447 miles per hour for the mile.

Class C (maximum cubical capacity 500 C.C.) —

  • Mr H. H. Bowen's single cylinder Bat (bore 85mm., stroke 85mm., cubical capacity 482), 65.023 miles per hour for the kilometre, and 64.283 miles per hour for the mile.

Class D (maximum cubical capacity 750 C.C.) —

  • Mr G. Lee Evans’s twin-cylinder Indian (bore 79mm., stroke 83mm., cubical capacity 638), 64.711 miles per hour for the kilometre, and 64.702 miles per hour for the mile.

Class E (maximum cubical capacity 1,000 C.C.) —

  • Mr W. E. Cook’s twin-cylinder N.L.G. (bore 80mm., stroke 94mm., cubical capacity 944), 75.921 miles per hour for the kilometre, and 75.678 miles per hour for the mile.

In Class B (maximum cubical capacity 344 C.C.) the best performance as yet set (after the above list of records had been made up) is that of Mr F. W. Dayrell's single cylinder Martin J.A.P. (bore 85mm., stroke 60mm., cubical capacity 340), 46.706 miles per hour for the kilometre, and 47.345 miles per hour for the mile.
