RECORDS AT BROOKLANDS.[1]

Jules Goux the famous Continental road racer, driving Mr. H. Boissy's 15.1 Peugeot, beat records in Class E and the 16 rating class at Brookl'ands yesterday. For the flying half-mile he did 16.95sec. a speed of 106.19 m.p.h.; for the flying kilometre his time was 21.14Sec., equal to 105.51 miles per hour; for flying mile he took 34.17 Sec, representing 105.36 miles per hour. Goux also captured the ten laps record. which is made from a standing start, covering the distance of approximately 27.5miles in 16min. 29.35 sec., equal to 100.69 m.p.h.. The average speed improvement over the old records is about five miles per hour.

Two other series of attempts on records were made at Brooklands yesterday. The Straker-Squire beat its own records in Class D, showing improvement of about two miles an hour on its previous record speeds for the short distances and over six miles an hour on the long distances record of 27.5 miles. The new figures are:- Flying half-mile, 98.74 miles per boor; flying kilometre. 97.94 m.p.h.; flying mile, 96.39 m.p.h.: standing ten laps, 91.73 m.p.h.

The big Sunbeam, with twelve-cylinder engine, of 47.6 rating, made an attack on the hour record, but had to stop in the fourteenth circuit to the bursting of a tyre. The car, however, beat the ten laps record, time being 15 min. 5.3 sec., a pace of 110.03 miles per hour, which is the fastest ten laps of the Brooklands track ever run.
