1881 Arthur B. Holmes 31, mechanical engineer, lived in Derby with Elizabeth Holmes 33[1]
1882 Went into partnership with J. C. Vaudrey
1882 Published "The electric light popularly explained" by A. Bromley Holmes (Unknown Binding - 1882)
1883 Published "Practical electric lighting" by A. Bromley Holmes (Unknown Binding - 1883)
1883 Holmes and Vaudrey formed Liverpool Electric Supply Co
1888 Member of the Society of Telegraph Engineers and Electricians
1888 Became a Member of the Inst of Civil Engineers
1889 Messrs. Chamberlain and Hookham obtained a Provisional Order for Birmingham; eventually they disposed of this Order to Messrs. Holmes and Vaudrey of Liverpool.
In December 1889 the Birmingham Electric Supply Co Ltd. was formed to take up this Order. A site was acquired in Dale End, where a generating station and offices were erected.
1903 Appointed consulting engineer to Liverpool Corporation
