1851 Residing at Fore Street, Trowbridge: Abraham Bowyer (age 56 born Bradford, Wilts), Grocer and Baker employing 15 men. With his wife Esther (age 60 born Hinton) and son Elijah Bowyer (age 29 born Trowbridge), Grocer and Baker. Also one visitor, a niece, and seven servants.[1]

1873 November. Died. 'Nov 18 at the Parade, Trowbridge, Mr Abraham Bowyer aged 81 for many years a well-known attendant of Shepton market'[2]
