Alexander Adams (1863-1908)
1909 Obituary [1]
ALEXANDER ADAMS died at Glasgow on November 29, 1908. He was born at Dundee in 1863, and at an early age entered the Navy, where he was employed on torpedo work, and incidentally acquired a good knowledge of electrical wiring.
He then took up wiring work for the Woodside Electrical Company, and for Messrs. Mavor and Coulson, and a few years later joined the Electricity Department of the Glasgow Corporation on its formation in 1892.
He was rapidly promoted until he became mains superintendent in 1896, which position he held until the time of his death. He effected many improvements in the details of main laying, and was most energetic and painstaking in the discharge of his duties.
He was elected an Associate Member of the Institution in 1900.
