Death of Alfred Danks
The death has occurred at Bristol of a well-known Gloucester resident in the person of Mr. Alfred Danks, of Northfield, Hucclecote. Mr. Danks, who was 61 years age, was compelled to give up business activities a few months ago owing to a serious breakdown in health, and his condition necessitated a serious operation, which proved successful, but the reaction was too great for his weakened state. Mr. Danks was a well-known Gloucester business man.
In 1912 he acquired the business known as the Westgate Iron Works, and later that of Messrs. J. M. Butt, the Kingsholm Foundry.
In 1921 occurred the amalgamation with the Gloucester Railway Carriage and Wagon Co., when Mr. Danks was appointed managing director, a post which he occupied until a few weeks before his death. Mr. Danks. who was a widower, is survived by three daughters and two sons.
