ALFRED COLLINGWOOD had been associated with the Westminster Electric Supply Corporation since 1900. He joined the company as draughtsman and rose to be chief draughtsman, and subsequently chief technical assistant on the design side. He was responsible for the necessary plant and equipment in connexion with the complete change-over of the system from direct to alternating current, and later for the installation of new and modern switchgear at the main substations of the corporation.
He was born in 1879 and received his technical education at the East London Technical College.
From 1895 to 1898 he served an apprenticeship with Messrs. Fraser and Fraser, Bromley by Bow, and he was subsequently engaged for two years as a draughtsman in the works of Messrs. J. Westwood and Company, Millwall.
Mr Collingwood's death occurred on 16th October 1933.
He had been an Associate Member of the Institution since 1907.
