Alfred Henry Appleton (c1903-1974) of Wagstaff and Appleton and Pressac

1974 September. Died, of 153 Wilsthorpe Road, Breaston. 'In 1948. after many years service with Carr Fastener Ltd of Stapleford, he joined Mr. George Wagstaff as a partner in Mr. Wagstaff's firm of development and precision engineers. In 1953 the business became a limited company as Wagstaff and Appleton Ltd. Mr. Appleton was one of the founder directors of Pressac ltd which was created in 1955 to enter the field of electronic component manufacturers. It has now become the major supplier of connectors for the t.v. industry and of flexible circuits for the motor industry. When, in 1966, a holding company was created for Pressac Ltd and Wagstaff and Appleton Ltd he became a director of it....and the group now has nine factories which are at Long Eaton, Stapleford, Harlow and Southwell employing 650 people'[1]
