1970 Incorporated as a public company. Exporters of Scotch whisky.

1972 Owned the Glen Scotia Distillery; new bottling plant being constructed at Grangemouth[1]. Merged with Robert Porter and Co, a private company involved in bottling and selling beers and stouts[2]

1978 After a period of poor performance, the profits of the business picked up with increased demand for their whiskies[3]

1981 Acquired George Morton of Montrose, dark rum importer[4]. James Gulliver, whose company owned 10 percent of this company, became chairman.

1981 Acquired North West Vintners

1982 Acquired Barton Brands of USA, a bourbon producer which also owned 2 distilleries in Scotland - Loch Lomond, which would be kept, and Littlemill, which would be sold[5][6]. Merged with Argyll Foods, forming Argyll Group[7]
