"ARTHUR GRAVELL, M.B.E., spent the whole of his professional career in India, where for over forty years he was connected with the Nahan Foundry in the Punjab.

He was born at Swansea in 1878, and received his technical education at the Durham College of Science. On the completion of a three years' apprenticeship with Messrs. Ernest Scott and Mountain, Ltd., of Newcastle upon Tyne, in 1900, he went out to India to begin his long connection with the Nahan Foundry, with the post of assistant engineer. Subsequently he was appointed superintending engineer, and held this position until his retirement in 1944.

Mr. Gravell was an Associate Member of the Institution for forty-five years, having been elected in 1904. His death occurred at Srinagar, Kashmir, on 2nd May 1949."
