"ARTHUR PERCIVAL NUELL was in the service of H. O. Strong and Sons, Ltd., Bristol, engineers, for thirty-five years. He was born in 1887 and received his general education at South Bristol Collegiate School. His technical training was obtained at the Merchant Venturers' Technical College and Birmingham Municipal Technical School. After serving his apprenticeship in Bristol from 1904 to 1908 with Humpage, Jacques and Pedersen, Ltd., he held short appointments with various engineering firms including Belliss and Morcom, Ltd., Birmingham, for which concern he was engaged as engine fitter, and Charles Taylor, Ltd., of the same city, where he was employed as junior draughtsman. On the conclusion of a two-year engagement as leading draughtsman to Heenan and Froude, Ltd., Manchester, in 1915, he began his long connexion with Strong and Sons, Ltd., and from that date until the time of his death, which occurred on 27th June 1950, was the firm's chief draughtsman. Subsequently he also took over the duties of works manager and technical director. Mr. Nuell had been an Associate Member of the Institution since 1918."
