More than 200 persons listed as living at Kirkstall Forge.[2]
1841/8 The Butler brothers John Octavius, Thomas and Ambrose entered into a partnership with their cousin George Skirrow Beecroft, late J.P. for Leeds, called Beecroft, Butler and Co at the old ironworks at Kirkstall Forge
