Bermondsey Metropolitan Borough Council's predecessor

1896 The Vestry of Bermondsey appointed a Special Committee to apply for a Provisional Order for the supply of electricity.

1902 The generating station was built at Neckinger, Bermondsey and opened in January 1902.

1902 Powers were granted to Bermondsey Metropolitan Borough Council for the supply of electricity to Rotherhithe.

1917 the bulk supply of electricity was obtained from the London Electric Supply Corporation Limited

1922 a scheme of assisted domestic wiring and fitting was introduced.

1930 Local generation was discontinued.
