Grace's Guide is the leading source of historical information on industry and manufacturing in Britain. This web publication contains 142,961 pages of information and 228,875 images on early companies, their products and the people who designed and built them.
Planned in 1857, and took the form of rolling mills in 1859. The manufacture of war material is quite a new departure (1890).
The works are situated in Pennsylvania, on the Lehigh River, about eighty-seven miles from New York. It had good links with New York, Philadelphia and the anthracite coal regions.
