Bizerte Transporter Bridge

From Graces Guide

NO LONGER EXTANT

Opened in 1898, this was the second transporter bridge to be built. Designed by Ferdinand Arnodin.

Span 109m.

The bridge was of the suspension type, characterized by slender towers and a horizontal trussed girders of light construction supported by a combination of vertical cables and cable stays. Due to the height of the towers, the suspension cables had to be anchored an appreciable distance back from the waterfront.

Relocated from Tunisia in 1909 to become Brest Transporter Bridge, which was demolished in 1947.[1]
