1905 Robert Bowman, a Glasgow chemist, started a business in Warrington, chiefly to provide chemicals for the brewing trade. In the early days it also made lactic acid, and supplied the large tanneries in the area.
1915 The factory moved to Moss Bank, Widnes, as Bowmans (Warrington).
1948 The company was incorporated as a public company, Bowmans Chemicals Ltd.
1968 Acquired by Croda International Ltd, becoming Croda Bowmans Chemicals Ltd.
