1974 British Ropes changed the name of the parent company to Bridon Ltd, with four subsidiary companies in the UK and Europe, comprising:
1984 Acquired the wire businesses of Martin-Black[1]
1989 Acquired Lionweld Kennedy, Richard Johnson and Nephew and Fox Wire
2008 FKI was acquired by Melrose
2011 Invested in a new facility at Newcastle making wire ropes for the offshore oil and gas industry[3]
2014 Melrose sold Bridon.
