1959 Acquired Richard Stevens (Engineers) of Birmingham

1961 re-registered as a public company[1]

By 1967 Carlton Investments owned 33 percent of the equity; Bristol acquired Ames Plant Hire from Carlton in exchange for shares[2]

Bristol Plant hire became a subsidiary of Carlton Investments, part of London Merchant Securities[3]

By 1974 was owned (63.6 percent) by Carlton Industries[4]

1977 Carlton Industries acquired the remainder of Bristol Plant Hire[5]
