CHARLES FREDERICK HART, born at Brigg, Lincolnshire, on the 26th October, 1828, died at Devizes on the 11th September, 1910.
He obtained his training on the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire railway, and was subsequently engaged on the construction of the Devizes branch of the Great Western railway.
For 22 years he acted as Secretary of the Berks and Hants Extension railway, now part of the Great Western railway system, and for 17 years until 1899, when he retired, he was Engineer to the Kennet and Avon Canal.
Mr. Hart was elected an Associate of The Institution on the 6th April, 1875.
