1868 James Atkinson Longridge and George Barclay Bruce, Consulting Engineers; Arthur Shanks, Resident Engineer.[1]

1868 Put under the control of the Government of India - the first line acquired by the Indian State Railways; it was operated by the Eastern Bengal State Railway

1870 Major F. S. Taylor, R.E., introduced a new system of working arrangement based on American management practice.

1887 Merged into the Eastern Bengal State Railway
