1935 Company established as distributors of Calor bottled gas and domestic appliances through 700 appointed agents; the gas was obtained from oil refineries under short term contracts.
1948 Public company incorporated as a holding company[1]
By 1954 Imperial Continental Gas Association had a significant interest in the company[2]
1963 Acquired Scottish Rural Gas, gas distributor[3]
1969 Imperial Continental Gas Association acquired the remaining 72.6 percent of shares that it did not already own[4]
1974 Calor had trouble in supplying customers of propane gas due to continued industrial action.[5]
By 1976 the holding company included subsidiaries[6]:

- Calor Engineering
- Calor Transport
- Calor Agriculture
- Calor-Konsangas
1987 Imperial Continental Gas Association was split into two companies, one of which was Calor, which included Century Power and Light, an oil and gas exploration and production company[7]
