1971 'Coincidental with the proposed sale of William Tatton and Co and Aycliffe Textiles to I.C.I. the management structure of the various yarn companies will be rationalised under a single company to be called Carrington Viyella Yarns. This new company will control the activities of the following businesses, which henceforth will cooperate as branches of Carrington Viyella Yarns Ltd: C. E. M. (Spinners), Robinson Brothers (Blackburn). Ensor Mills. Lily Mills. Robert Hyde Buckley and Sons. C. E. M. (Liverpool), Redmayne and Isherwood. In addition it will control the operations of S. Bourne and Co., which will become a subsidiary of Carrington Viyella Yarns. The board of Carrington Viyella Yarns will be, MR. G. BATTERSBY. chairman: MR. J. WHITTAKER. deputy chairman: Mr. C. R. Black, managing director Lily and Ensor Mills; Mr. T. A. Isherwood. managing director Redmayne and Isherwood; Mr. G. S. McKittrick, managing director Liverpool; Mr. W. R. Pomfret. technical director: Mr. N. Sharrock. managing director C. E. M.: Mr. J. Slack. managing director Barlow and Jones. Mr. Whittaker will have special responsibility for yarn processing activities, the management team for which will be: Mr. J. Carton (general manager. S. Bourne), Mr. W. Smallshaw (general Robert Hyde Buckley). Mr. M. Ditchburn (general manager Robinson Brothers). The divisional accountant will be Mr S. Young.'[1]
