Caunsall iron bridge

From Graces Guide
2016

Caunsall, near Cookley, Worcestershire

Also known as Austcliffe footbridge.

This is a small iron footbridge over the River Stour between Kidderminster and Stourton.

Its design and construction are consistent with a date of c.1800. Despite its historic significance as a very early cast iron bridge, it was neglected and little-known, although some repairs have been carried out in the past.

In 2022 the bridge was dismantled, taken off site for repairs, and reinstated. More information and photos here[1]

A footpath heading south from the Anchor Inn on Caunsall Road leads over the bridge to the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal. Information about its location here.
