Telecom Securicor Cellular Radio Limited held a cellular telephone licence and operated the network under the Cellnet name.

1983 Cellnet was one of two companies granted a licence to operate mobile cellular telephone services in the UK.

Cellnet was a wholly-owned subsidiary of Cellnet Group Ltd (CGL), of which BT owned 60 per cent and 40 per cent by Securicor Group plc.

1985 The mobile network operators began operations.
