CHARLES FREDERIC NICHOLSON received his education at the Lincoln Technical School and at the Birmingham Technical College. After serving his apprenticeship with Messrs. Ruston, Proctor and Company, general engineers, of Lincoln, from 1902 to 1908, he gained further experience as an erector to Messrs. Richardsons Westgarth and Company, Ltd. He then joined The Austin Motor Company, Ltd., and was first engaged in a similar capacity; later he was made workshop manager of the firm's Eastern Counties depot at Norwich.
In 1912 he established the firm of Messrs. Nicholson and Son, general motor and marine engineers, at Grimsby, and continued in business until his death, which occurred on 28th September 1944, in his fifty-ninth year.
Mr. Nicholson was elected an Associate Member of the Institution in 1938.
