1835 Married. Mr. Charles Kurtz. nephew to Andrew Kurtz, Esq., of this town, to Emma, only daughter of Mr. Harrison, of Salford.

1837 Bankrupt. Charles Kurtz, of Salford, Lancashire, manufacturing chemist.[1]

1845 Advertisement for Asphalte Vanish. Charles Kurtz, 28 Moor Street, Goree Chambers, Liverpool.[2]

1845 Partnership dissolved. '... the Partnership heretofore subsisting between us the undersigned, Charles Kurtz and Andrew Kurtz, at Liverpool, in the county of Lancaster, as Vendors of Patent Lamps, Manufacturers and Venders of Naval Varnishes, and Distillers and Venders of Tar, Camphine, and Naptha, carrying on, business in the name of the said Charles Kurtz alone, was dissolved...[3]

1871 Employing 160 men. With his wife Lucy, two daughters and three sons.[4]
