CHARLES W. LUNDY, who died at Halifax, Nova Scotia, aged 68, on the 16th of December, 1901, was born in England, and was, in 1865, engaged on the S.S. Great Eastern during the laying of the Transatlantic Cable.
After its completion he was appointed Superintendent at Heart's Content, Newfoundland. After a period of service here, he joined the [Eastern Telegraph Co|Eastern Telegraph Company]], and, whilst with them, was stationed for three years as their superintendent at Madras.
Then, in 1875, Mr. Lundy became Superintendent for the Direct United States Cable Company at Tor Bay, Nova Scotia, transferring to Halifax when, in 1890, the cable was continued to that city. During one of his furloughs to Europe (in 1899) he joined in the Institution Visit to Switzerland.
He was elected an Associate on the 9th of December, 1874, and was transferred to the class of Members on the 13th of January, 1875.
