1872 the Barker brothers transferred their properties (see Chillington Co) to a joint stock company and ran it as managing directors.

1872 Company registered[1]

1876 The Chillington company started to diversify, into horse shoes and then into tools.

Concentrated on the manufacture of lighter edge tools such as hoes. The tools were sold under the Crocodile brand name and included axes, forks, shovels and spades, most of which were exported.

1892 The Chillington Tool Co Limited was formed under the direction of John William Hunt.
