1879 A trademark was registered for the Claymore brand of Highland malt whisky.

1986 Was one of the whisky brands proposed by Guinness to be sold in order to clear the way for the take over of Distillers, together with John Barr, Haig, the Real Mackenzie, Buchanan blend and some export brands[1]

Acquired by Lonrho

1988 Sold to Brent Walker

1990 Brent Walker sold Whyte and Mackay, including Claymore Whisky and Haig, to American Brands (later called Fortune Brands).[2]
