1890 Reconstruction of William Cleland and Co that would be known in future as Clelands Graving Dock and Slipway Co. William D. Stephens is Chairman. [1]

1932 during the Depression, William Cleland's Graving Dock was offered for sale. It was purchased for £3,000 by the Craggs family of the Goole Shipbuilding and Repairing Co in the same year.

1934 Company name became Cleland's (Successors) Ltd which began trading in 1934.
