1969 As part of a strategy to increase the proportion of profits earned in the UK (without curbing foreign expansion) and in order to capture more of the downstream value in making garments (from threads) and in retail, the company had made a number of acquisitions including John Heathcoat and Co and a number of knitwear companies[3].
