Connah's Quay Power Station, Clwyd/Flintshire

Located on the south shore of the Dee estuary.

The building of a power station on the Dee estuary was originally intended by Chester City Council in order to replace their existing station at Queensferry.

1948 The British Electricity Authority reviewed the project and decided that a large-scale station was required to meet the increasing electrical demand in the North Wales area.

1950 Site work began

1954 The station was commissioned

The station's six coal-fired boilers and turbo-alternators had a total generating capacity of 192MW.
