Born in Yorkshire, son of Thomas Hargreaves, 9 December 1810. Married Johanna Mary Amélia Smyth (born Porto, 10 October 1813, died in Rio de Janeiro 18 August 1878). David Hargreaves died 28 October 1862 in Rio de Janeiro[2]

Birthplace: Bradford, Yorkshire[3]

The foundry imported coal (coke?), pig iron and wrought iron directly from England[4]
