Denis Tabor Brock (1882-1964)

1882 Born in Whitechapel, London, son of Samuel Brock, a dentist[1]

Apprentice at L. Faulkner and Sons, Steam Iron Works, Horsham.

1901 Metal turner, boarding in Chertsey[2]

1903 At Polytechnic School of Engineering, London when he became a graduate member of Institution of Mechanical Engineers

1906 Membership of I Mech E ended.

1908 Brock, of Ealing, and Ezra Reeve, a foreman blacksmith of Leighton Buzzed, patented an improvement in hoods for motor vehicles

1908-43 Brock was responsible for many patents on a variety of vehicle and aircraft related technologies

1920 One of the founders of Automotive Products Co

1930 Boughton, Emmott and Brock with Austin Cuthbert Burdon gained a patent for hydraulic brakes for aeroplanes; Boughton, Emmott and Brock gained another patent for fluid pressure braking systems which they assigned to the Automotive Products Co.

1939 Managing director, lived in Warwick; also living at the same address John B. Emmott (born 1913), assistant manager, aircraft factory[3]

1964 Died at Hurley, Berks[4]

"We regret to record the death on Sunday, August 9th after a short illness, of Mr. Denis Tabor Brock, at his home in Berkshire. Mr Brock, who was in his eighty-third year, was well known throughout the automobile and aircraft industries from their earliest days. He was one of the three founders of the Automotive Products Group, which first started in a small office in Berners Street, London, in April, 1920, and has now grown into a world-wide organisation. Until his death, me remained joint managing director of the principal companies in the Group."
