Deptford Royal Dockyard
The Deptford Royal Dockyard was near the Royal Navy College at Greenwich, as was the Royal Dockyard at Woolwich
1513 Dockyard founded
1821 Only maintenance work was carried out at Deptford
From 1830 the workload was reduced further and only shipbreaking was carried out there.
1844 Warship construction resumed on a small scale
1869 the yard was deemed surplus to requirements and was closed. The screw corvette HMS Druid was the last ship built there.
In 1908 part of the Dockyard was bought up by W. R. Cunis in order to service their fleet of sailing barges, tugs and lighters.
In 1971 they were partnered by the Hays Wharf to form Cubow They built coasters for the Rochester fleet and others.
In the late 70s the ten berths were modernised and the yard made coasters, tank barges and oil rig supply vessels. The yard also made fishing vessels.
