1911 J.O. Eaton and partners set up business as an axle manufacturing company

1919 Messrs Eaton and Torbensen formed the Eaton Axle Company

1920 Eaton Axle Company merged with Standard Parts.

1923 Eaton bought the Torbensen Axle Co. and changed the name to the Eaton Axle and Spring Company.

By 1932 the company had diversified and changed its name to Eaton Manufacturing Company.

1935 Eaton Manufacturing Co assisted the British Piston Ring Co to form British Aero Components Ltd.[1]

1937 Eaton opened a manufacturing plant in Canada.

1954 Eaton Axles of the UK were associated with Eaton Manufacturing Co, of Cleveland, USA, E. N. V. Engineering Co of London and Rubery, Owen and Co of Darlaston.

1958 Eaton acquired Fuller Manufacturing

1962 Eaton acquired E. N. V. Engineering Co

1963 Eaton Manufacturing Co. acquired Yale and Towne Manufacturing Co and Dole Valve Co., maker of appliance and automotive controls.

1966 Yale and Towne and Eaton Manufacturing merged into one corporation to form Eaton Yale and Towne Incorporated.

1971 Company name changed to Eaton Corporation.
