1871 Edward Carr Deakin was a master bleacher and dyer in Turton, Lancs., employing 45 men and 8 boys[1]

1873 Edward Carr Deakin, Belmont Bleach works.[2]

1880 Marriage of his 3rd son Edward to Eliza Isherwood.[3]

1885 'Another destructive fire occurred on Sunday in the neighbourhood of Bolton, the cotton spinning mills which form apart of the extensive Egerton Thread Works, belonging to Messrs. Edmund Ashworth and Sons, being destroyed. The Egerton Dye Works, which adjoin, were also damaged, but the large thread works were saved.'[4]
