1780 Advertisement: 'HALIFAX, Nov. 14th, 1780. Iron-Foundery. EMMET, HOLDEN, and BOLLAND, Hereby inform the PUBLIC, THAT they have erected a BLAST IRON FURNACE at BIRKINSHAW, near BRADFORD; where, and at their IRON-FOUNDERY at HALIFAX, they cast and make Press Nuts, Soals and Lids - Press-Plates - Press Ovens, with loose or fast Bottoms, and Mouth Pieces or ditto - Singeing and Condray Plates - Cylinder Rolls, ribb'd or plain - Calender Plates - Paper and Oil Screws- Gudgeons, Cog-Wheels, Rhinds, &c. for Mills - Boilers, Cylinders, Pipes, &c. for Fire-Engines— Wheels for Newcastle Waggons - Iron Weights, made exact to the Standard - Octagon, Side, and Patten House Ovens - Heater and other Stoves for Kitchens - Bath Stove Castings - lron Pots and Pins of any Size - Box Irons and Heaters - Sad Irons - Crates, Grate Bars, and all other Goods in the Cast-Iron Business and where Merchants, Ironmongers, Dyers, Pressers. and Others may be furnished with the above, or other Articles, upon reasonable Terms.
IRON STONE GETTERS are WANTED; sober industrious Workmen will meet with due Encouragement.
Letters directed to them at Halifax, will be duly attended to.
N.B. They make all Sorts of Press-Screws, with Brass or Iron Boxes and fit up Iron Presses, with Jennies, Jenny-Stangs, and all other Materials, in the most approved Method.'[1]

1785 Partnership dissolved. 'BIRKENSHAW and HALIFAX Iron-Foundery.
WHEREAS Mr WILLIAM BOLLAND of Halifax, Ironmonger, on the 16th Day of June last, agreed with Messrs. EMMETS, to dissolve the Partnership subsisting between them at the above Places, and assign over his Rights, Titles, Share and Interest thereof to them accordingly: And whereas the said Messrs. EMMETS have performed the Agreement made on their Parts with the said Mr. BOLLAND, and have tendered to him the Deeds of Assignment, and the Advertisement for the Dissolution of the Partnership, for him to execute, which he has refused to do.
NOTICE is therefore hereby given,
That all Persons indebted to the said Co-partnership, are desired not to pay the same to the said Mr. Bolland, as they will be called upon for Payment by the said Messrs. Emmets, carry on the Business as usual at the above Places, where all Orders for Goods will be thankfully received, and punctually executed. As Witness their Hands the 12th Day of August, 1785.
