"FREDERICK ALBERT COX spent the whole of his professional career in India. He was born in 1875 and educated at Taunton School. On the completion of a two years' apprenticeship at the Dudbridge Ironworks, Stroud, in 1898, he began his long connection with India as the proprietor of an engineering business at Nagercoil. In 1903 he joined the staff of Messrs. George Brunton and Son as an assistant and took charge of large drainage operations. Subsequently he was appointed manager and eventually became managing partner. Since 1938 he had been a director and engineer-in-charge of the South Indian Engineering Works, Ltd., Palluruthy, Cochin, South India, where his death occurred on 1st November 1949. Mr. Cox had been a Member of the Institution since 1920."
