Frederick Edward Fry Newman M.C., C.B.E. (1916-2012)

1916 Born, son of Frank Newman[1]

1937 Joined the family firm of shipbrokers, Davies and Newman.

WWII Served in the Honourable Artillery Company and General Slim's 14th Army in the Far East.

1952 Took over as head of Davies and Newman. Took the firm into air broking on the Baltic Exchange.

1953 Established Dan Air

Led the company to become the largest independent UK airline as well as the largest charter operator.

1989 retired as chairman of Dan Air

2012 Died
