1967 By the end of the year, to accommodate the acquisition of the Birfield Group, GKN Forgings and Castings had been split into GKN Forgings and GKN Castings[1]

The main subsidiaries of this sub-group were:[2]

1986 United Engineering Steels was formed as a JV to take over British Steel's Special Steels Division and GKN's special steels and forging operations[3]
