1858 Gardner Governor Co was founded in Illinois by Robert Gardner to commercialise the Flyball Governor, to control the speed of steam engines.

1927 Gardner Governor Co merged with Denver Rock Drill Co to form Gardner-Denver Co.

1994 Listed as public company

1996 Gardner Denver acquired Lamson

1997 Acquired Tamrotor, a Finnish manufacturer of lubricated rotary screw compressor air ends and a wide variety of OEM kits

1997 Acquired Wittig, renowned manufacturer of rotary sliding vane compressors and vacuum pumps

1998 Acquired Champion, maker of lower horsepower reciprocating compressors

2001 Acquired Belliss and Morcom, manufacturer of reciprocating high pressure air compressors used for niche applications, including PET bottle blowing

2004 Acquired Syltone including Drum, Webster Drives, and Air Drive

2001 Gardner Denver acquired Hoffman

2004 Gardner Denver acquired Nash_elmo which formed the Gardner Denver Nash Division.

2005 Acquired Rietschle, and Bottarini, an Italian packager of low-cost industrial screw and reciprocating compressors

2008 Acquired CompAir with its family of leading compressor brands

2011 Acquired Robuschi, an Italian-based manufacturer of blowers and vacuum pumps used in waste water treatment and many other industries.

2012 Hoffman & Lamson became part of the Nash Division.

2013 KKR acquired Gardner Denver

2014 Gardner Denver acquired Garo as part of the Nash Division.

2017 Trading in shares of Gardner Denver resumed on NASDAQ

2020 Gardner Denver Nash LLC merged with Ingersoll Rand Industrial Segment, making flow creation and industrial technologies.
