GEORGE ARMSTRONG PEARSON was educated in London and trained in the shops and drawing office of Messrs. Crompton and Company of Chelmsford, and Messrs. Lepard and Company of Yarmouth.
In 1896 he was engaged in erecting machinery for electric generating stations for Messrs. Buchan and Company of Edinburgh, and in the following year he became manager and engineer for Messrs. Pearson and Company of Bath.
After holding various positions at Bolton, Hull, and Loughborough, he joined the teaching staff of the Halifax College in 1924, and was chief assistant in the electrical engineering department.
He remained at the college until the time of his death on 20th October 1929, at the age of 56.
He was elected an Associate Member of the Institution in 1908.

GEORGE ARMSTRONG PEARSON, who died on the 20th October, 1929, was born in 1874 and was educated at Great Yarmouth College, the School of Electrical Engineering, Hanover Square, and the Finsbury Technical College.
After two years' practical work, first with Messrs. Crompton and subsequently with the British Insulated Wire Co., he became a charge engineer in the service of Messrs. Hartley and Co., Bradford.
In 1897 he joined Messrs. Pearson and Co., of Bath, but after four years - during two of which he conducted evening classes in electrical engineering at the Bath Technical School - he decided to devote the whole of his time to lecturing and his practice as a consulting engineer.
He became head of the department of electrical engineering at Bolton Technical Institute in 1901, and later occupied similar positions successively at Hull, Loughborough and Halifax Technical Colleges. His sportsmanship and genial sense of humour made him popular with his students and his colleagues.
He was elected an Associate of the Institution in 1896, an Associate Member in 1899, and a Member in 1913.
