GEORGE ESKHOLME BUTTENSHAW, M.B.E., was elected a Graduate of the Institution in 1891 and was transferred to Associate Membership in 1896.

He served his apprenticeship with Messrs. Guest and Chrimes of Rotherham, and remained with them for about twelve years.

He then joined the British Westinghouse Company at Trafford Park, Manchester.

Later he went to the Barrow Works of Messrs. Vickers, Sons and Maxim, and subsequently to Germany and Austria, where part of his time was spent with the Howaldtswerke, Biel.

During the War Mr. Buttenshaw was appointed to the North Western Area of the Ministry of Munitions in Manchester.

Afterwards he joined as a director the firm of Messrs. Frank Pearn and Company of Manchester.

His death occurred on 6th March 1932.

He was born in 1870.
