1898 George Morton Limited was registered May 12, 1898, to take over the business of wine and spirit merchant of Mr. George Morton, of Dundee. The capital was £66,000.[1]

The company was also described as whisky merchants and bonded store proprietors, blenders and bottlers to the trade.

1981 Amalgamated Distilled Products announced the acquisition of George Morton and North-West Vintners (Retail) Limited. It was noted that Morton were well-known for their whisky and O. V. D. Rum, and had been present in Montrose for several years, as well as retaining its original premises in Dundee.[2]
