Sir George Sutton (c1857-1934), President of of W. T. Henleys Telegraph Works Co, a director of Henleys Tyre and Rubber Co and of Enfield Rolling Mills

1934 Died. 'Sir George Sutton, president of W. T. Henley's Telegraph Works Co., Ltd., who was aged 77, died yesterday at Park House, Walmer, Kent. He had been in failing health for some time. Sir George was well-known figure in the industrial, having been connected with the firm of Henley for more than 50 years. He was a member of the Institution of Electrical Engineers, vice-president of the Council of the Royal Society Arts, and vice-president the Executive Council of the Federation of British Industries. Sir George, who was created baronet in 1922, married 50 years ago, Ruth, daughter of Mr. F. C. Goodchild. Lady Sutton died in 1931. There is no heir to the baronetcy. Sir George was mainly interested the transmission of electricity for light, power, heat, telegraphy and telephony. Three years ago to-day Sir George was presented by the directors and employees of Messrs. W. T. Healey’s Telegraph Works Company Ltd. and Messrs. Henley’s Tyre and Rubber Company Ltd. (a subsidiary company) with gold casket commemoration of his completion of 50 years service for the firm.'[1]
